Welcome

The University of Melbourne's Equine Centre is a division of the Veterinary Clinic and Hospital which is a department of the Faculty of Veterinary Science. It is one of only four University teaching hospitals in Australia that also operates as a specialist equine referral clinic.

The Equine Centre provides 24 hour 365 day a year care for horses and donkeys, and also provides training for over 300 veterinary students each year. The students in third and fourth year spend rotations in the Equine Hospital, where they assist interns, residents (veterinarians under-going specialty training) and specialist clinicians in the diagnostic and treatment of out-patients and in-patients.

The mission of the Equine Centre is to develop new clinical, communications and research initiatives for the betterment of all horses and the equine industry. This will be achieved through:
